Miracle League of Wilmington

Miracle League of WilmingtonThe Miracle League of Wilmington is an inclusive and accessible baseball league for children and adults with disabilities in New Hanover and surrounding counties.  The Miracle League currently serves over 100 players ages 4-64 living with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, visual impairments, amputations, and more.  Athletes play on the world-class 33,000 square foot BRAX Stadium PPD Miracle Field, which features a rubber surface to promote participation of people using wheelchairs and walkers.  Both The Miracle Field and the adjacent Kiwanis Miracle Playground, the largest wheelchair accessible playground in North Carolina were built in 2013 with support from the community and many public and private partners.  The first Miracle League baseball season began in August 2013, and May 2015 marked the conclusion of its fourth baseball.  The program has grown from 60 to over 100 participants, and the field and playground have become an accessible and inclusive destination for all of those living with disabilities in the Cape Fear region.
